Here's a quick plasterboard repair hack I've had to do recently on my ceiling after removing 1980s fascia bricks on the chimney. Cut a replacement piece, making sure the ends can be mounted to joists (you may need a stud finder). Draw around it on your ceiling Cut the ceiling where you marked with a pencil Screw the replacement plasterboard into your new hole Then papertape/or use scrim and fill.
