The L1A1 Self-Loading Rifle, is the British version of the Belgian FN FAL rifle, and was produced in the UK, under licence, to meet the need for the army to have a rifle capable of firing the new NATO 7.62 ammunition. Army Reservists made history this week by mobilising to keep the peace on Cyprus in the first ever Army Reserve-led tour. The Royal Lancers have settled back into routine with some back to basics dismounted close combat tactics in their ‘back garden’ – the Catterick Training Area.
